John Haddad’s work is guided by S.N.O.W.—Sense, Notice, Observe, Wonder, a method shaped by the disciplined training of the Old Masters, expanded through Modernist approaches to invention and abstraction, and informed by the curiosity-driven “I wonder” approach to learning taught by John Muir Laws through the Wild Wonder Foundation. His practice began simply—sketching as a way to slow down and observe—and gradually deepened through sustained study of drawing, color, watercolor, and traditional studio practices. In October 2025, Haddad completed the Wild Wonder Nature Journaling Educator Program, recognizing his training, teaching, stewardship, and commitment to sharing nature journaling. Today, his work begins with embodied sensing—light, space, texture, scale, and atmosphere—grounding the artist directly in the world. Through careful noticing of proportion, rhythm, pattern, and relationship, and sustained observation across landscape, figure, still life, botanical, and architectural subjects, Haddad builds a foundation from which interpretation, abstraction, and invention can emerge. Wonder remains central to the practice, holding open multiple dimensions of perception—visual, spatial, emotional, and intuitive—so that drawing becomes both a discipline of seeing and a means of connection. His work reflects a balance of rigor and openness, where tradition sharpens attention, modern inquiry expands possibility, and curiosity sustains a lifelong practice.
